Bow Brew Book Fest
Over 200 local parents and children were engaged and inspired by books at Bow Brew Book Fest on 7 April. The event had musical performances, story telling, playing in the outdoors, a theatre show and bundles of book giveaways and swaps.
BookTrust donated books to the value of £4000, along with gift Book Time packs, which enabled hundreds of children to take books home, and create an amazing Children’s lending library at Bow Brew. The event also supplied a box of books for Play Association Tower Hamlets (PATH) at the Linc Centre. 160 books also arrived for World Book Night 2018 in April, including adult fiction and non -fiction books that are available to borrow from Bow Brew.
A story writing competition enabled the involvement of all local primary schools and showcased some budding young writers! The participative theatre show by Booster Cushion, worked its magic with young people getting animated and imaginative.
A parent said “My kids loved it! From physical activities to creative story-telling, it was a fun packed day. Even I, as an adult, enjoyed the book swapping activity. It was a fantastic day for me and my children. I hope there’s more like these events in the future.”
The café was kicking with a lovely children’s menu and grub for the grown ups. All food left over at the end of the day, where it was freshly prepared, was delivered to the Seaman’s Mission Limehouse- where it was gratefully received.
