Community Safety meeting in Leopold
Leopold Area Regeneration Team (LART) is leading the development of a Neighbourhood Improvement Plan for the area. A range of organisations attended, including Prince’s Trust, Spotlight, the Community Alcohol Partnership and senior figures from Tower Hamlets Council.
During a listening campaign in the Leopold Estate in Spring 2017, key priorities were identified, including:
- Reducing anti-social behaviour
- Drug use and dealing
- Young people hanging around
- Feeling safe
Andrew Mahoney, Secretary of LART said “It was useful to have so many key people in the area together discussing the issues important to Leopold Residents – hopefully there will be some positive outcomes from the meeting.” The meeting discussed work that is already happening to address these priorities and what future plans there are to address feelings of safety in the area.
The meeting reinforced the importance of reporting any incidents of ASB to 101, as the reports are used to prioritise where resources are allocated. The next LART themed meeting is going to focus on Digital Inclusion and Community activities.
