Fun and fruit in the sun!
Thirty local children enjoyed a sun and fun-filled afternoon in The Lincoln Orchard during the last half term. The event was organised by resident volunteer Tajina Nasrin, to raise awareness of the orchard and the trees within it and to encourage people to make use of it more.
There was a vast array of activities on offer, provided by Play Association Tower Hamlets (PATH). These included parachute play, elastics, fancy dress and making stress balls out of balloons and rice! The event was supported by The Linc Centre, Clara Grant School and by Morgan Stanley volunteers, who brought along some delicious fruit kebabs for everyone to enjoy. By the end of the session all the fruit was eaten and all the families stayed out to play. A massive thank you to everyone who helped to make this event happen.
During the afternoon the children were also asked to take part in an art competition, by drawing pictures of plum, apple, cherry and pear trees. We were completely overwhelmed by the amazing and creative entries, a selection of these will be displayed at The Linc. Well done to all who took part, the winning entries will be used as labels for the trees in the orchard, so make sure you go and check them out.
PATH run weekly play sessions every Friday at The Linc Centre. For more information contact Eleanor on 07966 396 115. For more information on how to get involved in volunteering at the orchard or other gardening related volunteering, please speak to The Linc Centre Team. (020 7 538 5748).
