If you go down to Hind Grove today you’ll be in for a big surprise
The play area has been transformed by Play Association Tower Hamlets (PATH), as part of the Morgan Stanley funded Healthy Cities project. During 2016 ideas were discussed with families at Saturday play sessions delivered by PATH, the Lansbury West estate board and Poplar HARCA’s technical team.
With 2 small play spaces for toddlers the need was for older children to have more space to play and to kick a ball about. The run down ball court and surrounding grassy area was the ideal place for a refurbishment and new addition.
Now the ball court on Farrance Street has new markings, not just for football but tennis and basketball too. There is a set of new equipment, tennis kit, basketballs, giant games like 4 in a row, tumble tower, snakes and ladders and lots of skipping ropes and, hidden until you get close, a sunken trampoline.
Thanks to a further years funding from Morgan Stanley, PATH will continue to play around Poplar and is keen to meet residents of all ages who would like to get involved.
