Linc Centre celebrates Black History Month
The Linc Centre was transformed by beautiful art work, an amazing menu of food and a brilliant soundtrack as part of a series of events for Black History Month.The exhibition ‘Portraits of Trailblazing Black Women’ attracted people from all over London.
There was an exhibition of poetry, prose, art and photography. An art competition based on the theme ‘Remembering the Windrush Generation and Celebrating Today’s Communities’ was showcased at the event.
Eastside Community School created a piece which had over 1000 hands involved in the making – with strips of materials with important words written and woven together.
Evelyn from Evelyn Cards (based near the Clock Tower in Chrisp Street) submitted a selection of handmade cards for the competition.
Isobel Coutinho,Community Projects and Partnerships Support Worker at the Linc Centre said “It was lovely to host both old residents and welcome new ones, especially those who had submitted an entry to the competition.”
