YES to Chrisp Street
The Council said YES to our plans for Chrisp Street Market on 24th July. Big thanks to all the traders, residents and shoppers that have supported us throughout the 8 years of consultation. We now need to work with residents and traders on the logistics so we won’t start work for 9-12 months.
Once we do start, all shops will stay open. The market will move along Vesey Path and in to East India Square, outside the Idea Store but everyone can keep trading throughout. Some shops will move as part of the regen, we’ll keep people posted well in advance of any changes, but Chrisp Street will continue to do business as usual. Our plans include new and refurbished shops, the market at the heart of the scheme, new homes including more social rent, a cinema and restaurants, new Sure Start Centre, a large community hub, extended Idea Store and restored and accessible Festival of Britain clocktower.
